We now have on-line access to all of the Abacus maths work books. They have been saved on to the school web page in the 'Maths at Southborough' area. This is really useful as the children could use the 1st and 2nd term books as a recap (we are currently working from book 2). Access is available for all year groups so you could try either lower/ higher aged books to suit your child's ability.

Jack's VE Day Home Learning:

I learnt about my great grandad and what part he played in the war. He was part of the Malta Convoy Navy Task Force and won the Maltese George Cross for his part in helping liberate Malta from the Germans. I wrote and created a postcard to say thank you to my grandad for what he did. My parents borrowed old WW2 items from local friends and showed me what it would have been like to be a soldier back then. We then listened to Churchill’s speech on VE Day and what it meant to people. I then created my own speech and recorded it adding some old film effects. I looked at rationing and how it affected cooking and eating back then. I created some cheese and potato dumplings using a war time recipe and then made a cook book using photos and instructions. Finally, I looked at how everyone worked as a team towards a final goal; to win the war. My family and I then worked to create a piece of artwork to go on our house for the celebrations on VE Day.
