Here at Southborough, we teach an engaging and relevant curriculum, which makes the most of links to our local community and South East London, to create the maximum impact on our pupils’ learning. We believe that the more enriching the offer, the happier children are and the more they learn.

Pupils at Southborough experience relevant, balanced and age-related learning in science, history, geography, art, DT, drama, music, PE, SRE, PSHE and computing. Our curriculum is always under review and developed in conjunction with the children’s voice; their comments and suggestions are used to further develop what is on offer the following year. Subjects are connected over the year and taught in blocks, so our pupils have the opportunity to study subjects in depth.

In order to further engage the children and make them independent learners, we incorporate Life and Learning Skills in our topics. This gives them the opportunity to experience and acquire different personal skills and supports their development as responsible citizens.

Our curriculum subjects are enriched with themed days, educational visits and visitors to school to provide a multi-sensory and experiential approach to learning

In addition to these opportunities, our pupils experience outdoor learning in our Forest School and Edible Playground, where the children plant and grow food, which is then sent to our school canteen and served for lunch.
