Welcome to Galaxy.  We hope the following information will be of help to new Parents/Carers.

The aim of the Galaxy club is to provide parents with affordable quality child care during term time.

We have a dedicated and caring team of play workers who plan activities with the help of the children.  There are plenty of games and equipment, including computers for the children’s use.

Parking

Parents are not allowed to drive onto site (including the BYMT).  Please park in Oxhawth Crescent and use the side gate to the school.  Follow the path until you arrive at the conservatory.  Ring the bell and a member of staff will meet you at the door. 

The children are signed in on the register at every session. Children attending after school sessions will be signed out by club manager or a staff member.

Parents must advise the manager if the child is going to be absent or if the child is not being collected by the nominated parent/carer.

Breakfast and afternoon snacks are provided for your child/children, so we would ask that you do not send extra snacks in to the club.  Sweets or products containing nuts are not allowed in the club.

Morning sessions are: 7.45am – 8.55am

On arrival the children are signed in on the register and hang their coats up before choosing their breakfast.   At present the breakfast menu at present is as follows: cereals, toast or crumpets and various spreads, fresh fruit, raisins, milk, fruit juice, water, and in cold weather hot chocolate.

At 8.45am KS2 children are escorted to their classrooms by Galaxy staff

Reception and KS1 children are escorted to their class rooms at 8.45am again by Galaxy staff.

Afternoon sessions are: 3.15pm – 6pm.

Reception and year 1 children are brought to Galaxy by the school staff and KS2 children make their own way to the club. They are signed in on the register before having a snack.

The afternoon snack menu is on a 3 week rota which is available for your information on the school website.   

When the children are collected the club manager or staff will sign them out from the register.

Place allocation

All Galaxy place admissions must come via website form or school provided Galaxy form as emails will not be counted as place requests.

Galaxy spaces are permanent, continuous allocated spaces until a parent/carer states that the space is no longer needed and a 2 week notice period then comes into effect.

Places are awards as follows:

1. Siblings automatically allocated spaces to allow continuation of care for families already present.
2. Full time care needed (Morning and afternoon sessions Monday- Friday)
3. Full time Morning or evenings needed
4. Part time Morning and evening sessions needed
5. Part time mornings or evening needed.
6. Singles sessions needed are then allocated to the different days needed with space available.

Ad-hoc sessions can be provided to already attending Galaxy children if space is available on days needed at an extra cost for emergencies but not a service regularly offered

New September school starters are not automatically assigned a Galaxy place and must apply via the website form or school provided starter pack.
