House captains
We have 4 houses and each child is allocated to a house when they start with us. These houses are used for PE and inter house competitions. Each summer the new house captains and vice captains are voted for. They have responsibility for representing the school at trust wide events and also support Mrs Berthoud with in school events such as open mornings and assemblies.
School Council
All of the classes, from Year 1 upwards, vote for one School Council representative. We meet monthly to discuss important issues about our school. Our classes think of ideas to discuss and we add them to the agenda together with topics which the staff and the children in the school want us to talk about. After the meetings we tell our classes what happened and any decisions we made. We also ask them to talk about what we have told them and we report this back to the next School Council meeting. In assembly, we discuss what has happened at our meeting.
The children report that they really enjoy being School Councillors because it helps them:
Sports Leaders
There are sports leaders in Year 5 and 6 who support Coach Taylor with PE. They are chosen by Coach Taylor to assist, model and lead PE around the school.
Play Leaders
There are play leaders in Year 5 and 6 who support with play and lunchtimes. They are chosen by Mr Fotheringham and Mrs Hawkins to assist, model and lead play around the school.
Digital Leaders
There are Digital Leaders in every class. They are chosen by the class teacher and computing lead to assist, model and lead the use of technology around the school. They are responsible for ensuring that technology is used safely and will show children the correct way to use technology.
Eco Council
The Eco council meet each half term to discuss ways to decrease the use of electricity, waste and improving green spaces around the school. The children have used litter pickers to clear areas of plastic. They have created posters reminding that lights should be turned off after use. They have begun work on improving the green spaces.
