Quiz masters challenge (3 March 2021)

We are joining once again with the National Literacy Trust to bring you another exciting challenge and live event this week to celebrate WORLD BOOK DAY!

To explain this week’s Quiz masters challenge, here are top football authors, Alex Bellos & Ben Lyttleton!:

    https://plprimarystars.s3.amazonaws.com/1614704640-Quiz-masters-challenge_20_1_.mp4_1280x720_4.mp4

We’d like you and your family to write your own quiz. Quizzes are a really fun way to share the knowledge you have and to learn new things.

We recommend that you make the quiz multiple-choice: that is, for each question give three possible answers, labelled a), b) and c), only one of which is correct. Make sure the questions are not too difficult, not too easy, and try to make one of the (wrong) answers funny. Some of the best learning comes with laughter! Download our free resource pack including top tips on how to create a great quiz and a template to help you write it.

A special World Book Day live event with our star authors, Alex Bellos and Ben Lyttleton, will take place at 9:15am on World Book Day (Thursday 4 March), presented by CBBC’s Kenzie Benali. There will also be a live quiz, featuring questions from footballers and the chance to win a book box for your school!

Find out how to watch the event on the National Literacy Trust’s Words for Life website. You can also read a copy of the first book in the Football School series for FREE on this page!

Don’t forget to show us your amazing quizzes with us by sharing them on Twitter @PLCommunities using #PLPrimaryStars or emailing them to PLPrimaryStars@premierleague.com. You might even find yourself as our Star of the Week on our community page!

    Have Fun,

    Mr Fotheringham

Team talk challenge (24 February 2021)

Team captains play an important role in looking out for all the members of a team, from diffusing differences between players to boosting morale. For this week’s challenge, former Premier League defender and captain Ashley Williams wants to know if you have what it takes to talk like a team captain.

  • Joy of Moving Winter Games Pack

    Tue 09 Feb 2021

    Dear Parents/ Carers,

I hope you are all fit and well and enjoying playing in the snow!!

In conjunction with the English Football League and Southborough's links with Charlton FC, I am delighted to send you the Joy of Moving Winter Games pack. This is an exciting selection of games and activities for your children and their families to enjoy over the next few weeks. The pack explains everything as you go, and all games and activities are appropriate for children in Key Stage 1 & 2. They have been designed so children can play indoors too.

Throughout February we would encourage families to post on social media about their involvement in the Joy of Moving Winter Games using #JOMWinterGames.

The pack can be found on the website. Go to ' Children', ' Class Pages', 'P.E and Sport.'

Please feel free to post photos of your children playing these games on Google Classroom or Tapestry.

    Have fun and stay safe.

Internet detectives challenge (9 February 2021)

Whether it’s to play games, learn from home or stay connected with others, we use the internet in so many ways. But how do we know if the information we find online is reliable and how can we make sure we’re using the internet responsibly?

CBBC TV presenter Katie Thistleton is challenging you to become an internet detective in our new weekly challenge.

To get involved, download our challenge worksheet found in our Internet detectives resource pack. Carry out an investigation of your footballing hero by completing the tasks and then share your Footballing hero template with us for your chance to win a fantastic book; Football Academy by Tom Palmer.

    Have fun and good luck,

    Mr Fotheringham

  • Premier League Challenge

    Mon 01 Feb 2021

    Good morning Primrose Class,

This week’s Premier League Primary challenge is created by author Helena Pielichaty:

We’d like you and your family to develop a character, using our role on the wall technique. This is a really fun way to make notes about what a character looks like on the outside, AND what they are like on the inside. You could do this about a character that you want to create for a story. You could share what you feel about life in lockdown, and what you want to feel like when it is over! Everything you need can be found in our Role On The Wall challenge resources. https://plprimarystars.com/news/weekly-challenges-2021?utm_campaign=2087146_PLPS_HLNews_4_Feb2021_ENGAGED&utm_medium=email&utm_source=edcoms&dm_i=3VTU,18QGA,67QX82,4GUVS,1
